MODES

GOALS is built to support different ways to play. Whether you want to practice and improve, compete at the highest level, or just play casually with friends, there’s a game mode for you. And no matter what you choose, your time is always rewarded.

At launch, GOALS focuses on 1v1 gameplay, with additional formats like 2v2 and 5v5 planned for future updates.

Practice & Learning

Practice arena

For practice and learning, the Practice Arena gives you a stress-free environment to get comfortable with the game. You can freely control one player from your club with only a goalkeeper present, and there are no time limits or pressure. It’s the perfect place to practice different shot types from different angles, learn skill moves, and perfect free kicks and penalties.

There are no direct rewards, but some challenges can be completed here.

Practice scenarios

Practice Scenarios offer a more structured way to learn. These are objective-based challenges with increasing difficulty that cover all core mechanics. As you complete them, you earn rewards, and finishing a full set grants bonus rewards. The difficulty tiers range from Rookie to Contender to Champion.

Even experienced players are encouraged to complete them, as GOALS includes unique mechanics worth mastering.

Bot Practice

Bot Practice lets you play against AI at your own pace, with difficulty levels ranging from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced. The AI difficulty affects both decision-making and team strength, and matches end early if you go five goals ahead.

You earn Match Points and XP, with wins granting double rewards, and rewards scaling with time played to prevent exploits.

Casual Play

Friendlies

For casual play, Friendlies let you play against friends without restrictions. You can invite others via a lobby code, with no limits on teams or matchmaking, and play as much as you want. You still earn Match Points and XP, with the winner receiving double rewards, while leaving early grants rewards based on time played.

Quickplay

Quickplay is designed for fast matches against random players. It prioritizes quick matchmaking and uses a loose MMR system to avoid extreme mismatches, with no team restrictions. It’s ideal for testing new tactics, trying new players, or playing without pressure. Rewards follow the same structure: Match Points and XP, double for the winner, and time-based rewards if you leave early.

Competitive play

Ranked

Ranked is the core experience. It prioritizes fair matches using a strict MMR system, with no team restrictions.

The ranking system consists of 10 ranks based on Skill Rating, which updates after every match. Each match also grants Reward Points: three for a win, two for a draw, one for a loss, and zero if you leave early.

Reaching 15 Reward Points unlocks rewards, which are based on your rank and fully repeatable, with no seasonal resets.

There’s also a global Top 500 leaderboard, requiring at least 10 games played in the past month.

On top of that, every match still gives Match Points and XP, with double rewards for the winner and time-based rewards if you leave early.

Competitive Play

Tournaments

Tournaments provide high-stakes, structured competition. They consist of four rounds:
- Round of 16
- Quarter-final
- Semi-final
- Final.

If you lose once, you’re out, but winning the tournament grants big rewards. Each tournament comes with unique entry rules, such as team rating limits, player tiers, nationalities, or age restrictions. This encourages squad rotation, strategic team building, and makes a wider range of players useful.

The first tournament win gives a large reward, while repeated wins provide smaller, repeatable rewards, and match rewards increase each round. Matchmaking is primarily based on your current round, with MMR considered more loosely to keep the mode accessible.

There are also Bot Tournaments with the same structure against AI, where difficulty increases each round and rewards scale with overall difficulty.

Competitive play

Knockout

Knockout is the ultimate competitive mode, running weekly from Friday 9:00 CET to Monday 9:00 CET, and offering the best rewards in the game. You progress through divisions - Bronze, Silver, Gold, Elite, and finally Knockout -by achieving a set number of wins within a limited number of attempts. You start in Bronze and move up by winning enough games, but if you fail, you’re eliminated for the week. Even if you don’t advance, every win improves your rewards.

In the final Knockout division, you compete for leaderboard placement with unlimited wins until you reach two losses, and your final score is based on total wins. The global Top 500 leaderboard is determined by wins in this division. Matchmaking is based on your current division, naturally becoming more difficult as you progress and face other advancing players, with MMR only applied in the Bronze division.

Rewards in Knockout are based on your final division and total wins, and can be claimed instantly upon elimination, while Top 500 rewards are distributed after the leaderboard finalizes. As with other modes, you also earn Match Points and XP per game, with double rewards for wins and time-based rewards if you leave early.
