After overcoming a paralyzing fear of thunderstorms in his youth, this German centre-back now channels that intensity into a fierce, tireless style of play. Blessed with elite jumping and explosive pace, he dominates opponents with disarming humility. While his slide tackles occasionally lack finesse, his sheer defensive work rate makes him a formidable presence on the pitch.
